Contested And Uncontested Maryland Divorce
I work hard to help clients reach agreement in property division, child custody and every area where agreement is possible. Making an agreement and negotiating the terms of your divorce can minimize time and costs of court. However, agreement is not always possible. When you need an aggressive divorce attorney to take your case to court, you can count on me to be a strong advocate for your interests before the judge.
Child Custody And Child Support
Child custody and child support decisions must be made not only in cases of divorce, but also in paternity cases. You also may need to go back to court again to ask the judge for a modification of child support because of changed circumstances. If your income has substantially decreased, you can ask the court for a reduction in child support. On the other hand, if the child's needs have greatly increased, the custodial parent may make a case for an increase in support. If you have questions about Maryland child support laws and how much you may be expected to pay for a child, contact my office.
Protective Orders And Peace Orders
You deserve to be safe and secure legal protection against any abuser, stalker or threatening spouse. If you need immediate legal help, contact me by email or call a family law attorney at 301-960-5712.
There are two steps to get a protective order. The first step is to get a temporary order from the court. This is fairly easy to obtain. The second step is to get a "permanent" order, which lasts 12 months. This is not automatic. You need a lawyer to make a strong case on your behalf. Once a permanent order has been granted, the judge will decide on living arrangements, financial support, and child custody and visitation.
